Filter function for PrimeFaces DataTable tags

I am trying to implement the Filter feature of the DataTable tag in PrimeFaces.
When I implemented it as per PrimeFaces documentation, I was able to display/enter the input field for the filter, but was unable to filter it.

If anyone can help me find a solution, I would appreciate a reply.

One obvious mistake I see right away is that you store the filteredValuein the same variable as the value, these have to be different and the filteredValue should be an empty list initially.
