Primefaces licenses will expire

We would like to inform you of an important update regarding the PrimeFaces LTS license included in specific Axon Ivy versions.
The license bundled with the following versions will expire on the dates listed below:

10.0.26 .. 10.0.28 at 11th November 2025
12.0.0 .. 12.0.6 at 13th September 2025
13.1 at 13th September 2025

If you are running any of the affected versions, please update your Axon Ivy system to at least one of the following versions before the license expiration date:

Failure to update in time may result in a red license notification being displayed in the Axon Ivy UI. This message could impact the functionality and appearance of your user interfaces.

For customers who are unable to upgrade to the required version, please reach out to our support team to request a patch compatible with your current setup.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.

Thanks for sharing. Does the expiration also affects older Ivy versions, like 8 and 9?

No, only the mentioned versions are affected.
Axon Ivy 8 or 9 uses older versions of PF, which have a different licensing model without an expiration date.

How about version 10.0.22 (not in the mentioned range 10.0.26 -> 10.0.28)?
Does it need to be upgraded to .29?

No, you don't have to update. The license for PF in this version has no expiration date.

On the other hand, updating to the latest version is recommended anyway.

The following components are affected:

Axon Ivy Engine
Axon Ivy Designer

Those need to be updated.
Other components, like Portal, Portal-Components, or your Applications, are not affected and do not need to be updated.

Reto Weiss What would be the safest and most recommended procedure to update a running production Engine? Iam using 12.0.0 In addition, is there a way to update the Designer directly, or do I need to perform a fresh installation of version 12.0.9? When I use Check for Updates, nothing seems to happen.

We do not support direct updates to the Designer. To update, please download the latest available release and perform a fresh installation. To save your data you can start the new Designer with your old workspace.

Similarly, for the Engine, download the latest version and install it. The Engine includes a migration wizard that assists in transferring configurations and data from an older version to a newer one. For more details, refer to the official documentation:

Reto Weiss First of all thank you fpr your guidance.
I performed a hotfix upgrade from Axon Ivy Engine 12.0.3 to 12.0.7 on Windows.
I downloaded and unpacked the new Engine (12.0.7).
I stopped the old Engine service.
I ran the Migration Wizard in the browser (http://localhost:8080).
The wizard finished with the message: "The Axon Ivy Engine migration was successful." ✅
Now I am unsure what exactly “Restart the Axon Ivy Engine” means in the documentation:
If I restart the old Windows service, it only starts my old 12.0.3 Engine.

I don’t see clearly which steps are needed to actually run the new 12.0.7 Engine as a service.

Could you clarify what the correct next step is after the wizard says successful?
What is meant by the step “restart the engine” in the documentation?

If you run the engine as a Windows service you have to deregister the old 12.0.3 Windows service and register the new 12.07 Windows service. You can do that as follows:

Open a command promt as administrator (Windows Search type cmd and then in the menu click on the 'Command Prompt' with the right mouse button and choose 'Run as administrator')
Navigate to the bin directory of the old Engine 12.0.3
Run the command AxonIvyEngineService -unregister
Navigate to the bin directory of the new Engine 12.0.7
Run the command AxonIvyEngineService -register
Run the command AxonIvyEngineService -start to start the Windows service (Or open Services and start the Axon Ivy Engine service)
