Common performance issues in Axon Ivy

Hello everyone,

we are currently experiencing significant performance issues in our Axon Ivy system and would like to ask if this is a known or common problem, or if there are specific areas we should investigate.

For quite some time now, our system has become noticeably slow:

Opening a task takes an unusually long time

Dashboard elements such as filters, lists, or views respond very slowly

Overall UI interactions feel laggy, especially in task-related views

The slowdown occurs consistently and is not limited to a single user.

We would like to know:

Are there known common causes for this kind of performance degradation in Axon Ivy?

Are there specific components we should check first (e.g. task queries, custom fields, workflow listeners, permissions, database indexes, logging, etc.)?

Are there any best practices or diagnostics you would recommend to identify what could be causing the lag?

Any hints, experiences, or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Which version of Axon Ivy are you currently using?

To analyze performance issues, you can leverage the tools and views available in the Engine Cockpit. Navigate to the Monitor menu to get started. For an initial overview of your system, use the Monitor/Performance/Traffic Graph view. This provides insights into the number of incoming and outgoing requests, along with their corresponding response times and error ratios.

Once you've identified which part of your system is experiencing slowness (e.g., Engine, System Database, Active Directory, etc.), you can use tools specific to that component for further analysis. If the issue lies with the engine, the Engine Cockpit offers a variety of additional views, such as CPU Load, Memory Usage, and Slow Requests, to help you pinpoint the problem.
