Portal leftside navigation (sidebar) toggle

Hi,

our users are unnerved that the leftside navigation bar of the portal is by default always collapsed.
Even if the user toggles the sidebar to expanded - whenever the browser is reopened the toggle for expanded gets lost and the sidebar is again collapsed.
Is it possible to store the user-setting for this toggle and on next browser-open set this user-setting?
Or is it possible to change the default behaviour of the portal side-bar to be expanded?

E.g.: User sets sidebar toggle to expanded:

on next browser-start the sidebar is again closed.

Starting from Portal 12.0.12, we introduced a new Portal Admin setting: Portal.KeepSidebarExpanded
This setting allows you to configure the sidebar to be expanded by default for all users.

However, please note that this is a global configuration, not a per-user preference.
Currently, the portal does not persist the user’s toggle state (expanded/collapsed) across browser sessions.

We are aware of this limitation. In an upcoming Portal 12 version, we plan to redesign the sidebar behavior and introduce more flexible interaction modes, such as:
Hover mode (default)
Stick mode (always expanded)
Click mode
Potentially allowing users to fully hide the sidebar

This redesign will give user more option to customize Portal for there desire.

Hi, thanks for reply. That's a nice solution. I tried it with Portal Version 12.0.13 -> but i can't find the mentioned Portal-variable:

You can find configuration the setting in Portal: User Menu -> Admin Settings -> Settings tab -> Search for key Portal.KeepSidebarExpanded.

hm, must the engine also be at least 12.0.12? I have portal 12.0.13 with engine 12.0.9 -> the setting is not there...

This is weird cause I set up the Portal 12.0.13 from market and the settings was there:

And no I don't think the engine is the source of problem but still suggest that you should match Portal version with engine version.
