Automating Database Migration During Application Deployment

We currently prepare SQL files for application database migrations and execute them manually.

Is it possible to automate the database migration process so that it runs automatically when the application is deployed?

Does Axon Ivy provide a way to automatically run database migrations when deploying an application?

Thank you for sharing the plugin link.
We have multiple members creating Axon Ivy applications, and we are currently managing around 10 apps that use databases.
Installing this plugin for every application (or even for some of them) would be difficult.
Even if we were to install it in just one application and allow it to access all ten databases within the container, we would prefer to avoid any impact on other applications as much as possible.

Is it correct to understand that there is currently no such mechanism available without a plugin?

Please feel free to point it out if my understanding of the plugin or the Axon Ivy Engine is lacking or incorrect.

My envrioment:
Engine: AxonIvy 12.0.12
DB: Oracle DB 19C

Hi @MK-R-J, for the scenario "we were to install it in just one application and allow it to access all ten databases within the container" we have not tried it yet, but I think the connector just supports a simple case where just one app (project - db-util) connects to one DB.
So for your case: I think we can base on the AbstractProcessStartEventBean of ivy, then import the liquibase for your root/migration project, then we can build multiple IExternalDatabaseManagers per your DB instance. and handle migration.
But anyway, the source code of db-util is open, feel free to checkout and customize as your requirement

Although the plugin is customizable, would it be possible to enhance it to officially support Oracle Database (and ideally MySQL or MariaDB as well)?

I think it's possible. But to be honest, I just used it for PostgreSQL and MSSQL DB, so no clue how difficult to get it to work or if it already works 🤔

If I’m mistaken, I apologize, but are you the developer of the Db-utils plugin?
If not, could you please let me know whom I should contact regarding enhancement requests for this plugin?

We would greatly appreciate it if this plugin could also support Oracle DB and other databases.

As a software developer, I am only in my second year, so to be honest, it is difficult for me to customize the plugin to enable Oracle DB support.....

Hi @MK-R-J I'm not a guy who develops it, but we can maintain it. Yeah, happy to hear that you have an idea to enhance the connector.
Could you help create a new "Issue" directly on https://github.com/axonivy-market/db-utils/issues, so that the marketplace team can check, get advice from the code-owner, and plan to do it, I think.
