With Axon Ivy you can easily connect to a MS SQL Server database. For this you can make a new entry in the Database Editor
databases.yaml. You may need to configure a so-called
instanceName. Instead of adding this directly to the host you have to configure this as an additional connection property in the MS Sql Server driver.
Legacy jDTS driver
In older Axon Ivy versions there is still the legacy jDTS driver. The property is not called
instanceName but simply
instance. We do not recommend to use this driver anymore! Thanks to @Stefan Widmer for pointing that out.
What is the
instanceName needed for? With the definition of the
instanceName the definition of the port is omitted. On the server where the MS SQL Server is running, another service is running on a fixed defined port. The jdbc driver requests this service and evaluates the real port, which is mapped to the
instanceName. This feature is deprecated by Microsoft and it is recommended to use the correct port directly.
