Starting with Axon Ivy Release 9.4.0, when using a MSSQL system database we automatically set parameter sendStringParametersAsUnicode=false
if not already defined. This improves the performance of SQL queries using prepared statements with string parameters.
If you want to read more about it, here is a good example: https://sqlwizardblog.wordpress.com/2018/07/29/performance-impact-of-jdbc-connectionstring-property-sendstringparametersasunicode/
If you use an external MSSQL Database, the parameter is not set by default. If you do use neither a Unicode character set nor NVARCHAR columns, you can set that parameter to false
to benefit from better performance.
To assert a high performance, make sure all your databases use the same character set and collation, and that they are the database server's default character set and collation. If this is not the case, refer to https://documentation.help/setupsql/8_ar_da_8uer.htm to see the drawbacks of such a setup.
